Leadership is Responsibility

leadership_lessons_from_monopoly_with_darryl_schoemanWhen playing monopoly, my 7 year old son thinks that being the banker is really cool because he “has” all the bank’s money to his disposal. But being the banker is one of responsibility. Much like many church ministries are.

After justice, mercy comes

God both just and merciful (David Pawson) on thisiswhatihavetosay

God is both merciful and just.
Justice can only go so far.
Thereafter, mercy takes over and goes further.

Looking to pick a fight

Samson went down to Timnah and saw there a young Philistine woman. (2) When he returned, he said to his father and mother, “I have seen a Philistine woman in Timnah; now get her for me as my wife.” (3) His father and mother replied, “Isn’t there an acceptable woman among your relatives or among all our people? Must you go to the uncircumcised Philistines to get a wife?” But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me. She’s the right one for me.” (4) (His parents did not know that this was from the LORD, who was seeking an occasion to confront the Philistines; for at that time they were ruling over Israel.) Judges 14:1-4 (NIV – emphasis mine)

In Judges 13:5, an angel of the Lord tells Manoah’s wife that she will bear a son (Samson) and that he will begin to deliver Israel out of the hands of the Philistines. Later, when Samson is all grown up, he wants to marry a Philistine girl. Of course his parents are not happy as the Philistines are their oppressors.

But the key to this whole unfolding of events, is Judges 14:4; God was allowing Samson to be interested in marrying a Philistine women because God was looking for an occasion – a reason – to fight the Philistines.

In a nutshell, God was looking to pick a fight.

And He just so by the way had the right chap for the job.

Atheism Grounded on Pretend

this is what i have to say - image of richard dawkins

I’m probably going to get a barrage of abuse for posting this, but don’t get upset with me – I’m simply highlighting what they (the atheists) are saying themselves. So here’s the quote:

No gene – which is a mere collection of DNA molecules – can be said to have a selfish attitude or to make selfish plans, since these require a brain. Nevertheless, it is useful to pretend, as Richard Dawkins (1976) has done, that a gene thinks about it’s desire to survive … (Mary Maxwell, The Sociobiological Imagination 1991, p19-20, emphasis mine)

So, atheism is grounded upon a theory which admittedly relies on pretending. Mmmmm… interesting.

And we thought it had to do with money?!…

this is what i have to say - and we thought it was all about the money

“‘Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.’ They brought the coin, and he asked them, ‘Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?’ ‘Caesar’s,’ they replied. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s'” (Mark 12:15-17).

What are “the things that are God’s”? Presumably, whatever bears the image of God. Jesus then was saying, “Give your money to Caesar; it has his image on it, and thus belongs to him. But give yourselves to God. You bear his image, and you belong to him.
